Spice Level🌶🌶🌶🌶 (It was the perfect amount of spice for me)

I will start off my saying that I preferred this book much more than the first Crescent City. I found the first book to be a little confusing and I did not have that excitement to sit and read like I usually do with Sarah J Maas books. That being said, the first book was decent and I am glad that I finished it.
I read the first Crescent City book when it first came out in 2020. By the time House of Sky and Breath came out, I pretty much forgot most of the details of the story. This happens to me quite often. Thankfully, as you start the second book those details come back to you and everything makes sense. I did not feel lost or confused at any point.

This book starts off with the longest prologue I have ever read. It is important to the rest of the story so just power through. You are in capable hands with Maas, it will all make sense eventually.

What I really loved about this book was the character development. In the first book, there was more world building and in this one you really get to know all the characters. Not just Bryce and Hunt, but all the supporting characters. Some you grow a serious attachment to…Ruhn!

This book took me a VERY long time to read. I found the story to be a little slow at times but I always looked forward to reading this book. You may have heard some people talking about the ending. The last 150 pages were incredible! It makes reading those 650 other pages worth every minute! You will know the moment this book goes from 4 stars to 5! CHILLS!!! Just wait and see….it is epic! Sarah J Maas is a genius and I cannot WAIT until the next book comes out. I have a feel its going to be the best one yet.

🌶🌶🌶 3/5

This book was everything I wanted it to be! Honestly, the first Crescent City book was not my favorite. I appreciated the world building in HOEAB but I felt it was very slow. I wasn’t expecting to love HOSAB as much as I did! But man did it deliver!

Perhaps my favorite part of this book was the relationships between the all of the characters. I absolutely adored the banter between friends, it made me laugh out loud on more than one occasion. You could really see what a supportive group of friends they had all become.

I have to tell you Ruhn gives me all the feels in this book! I liked him in HOEAB but he really stood out to me in this one. He is the perfect mixture of brave and sensitive and I grew to LOVE him!

Another major positive to HOSAB was the spice! I felt it had a very appropriate amount of spice, which I found to be lacking in HOEAB. Ruhn’s spicy scene was certainly a new one for me 😄!

Of course, the ending was five stars all on its own. Maas has an incredible talent in throwing these bombshells that I would have NEVER predicted!  What a phenomenal job Maas did with the characters and world she created for this series!

I 10/10 recommend reading, even if book 1 wasn’t your jam!
