Five Valentine’s Day Books for Kids

Valentine’s Day is around the corner! It is a great time to share the importance of love and kindness with our littles! We wanted to share which books we will be reading to our kids this year! On the list are board books for toddlers, as well as a few for the school aged kiddos! What books will you be reading to your kids this Valentines day?

Little Blue Truck’s Valentine by Alice Schertle

The beloved series, The Little Blue Truck has a special Valentine’s Day story. The Little Blue Truck is driving around delivering Valentines to all of his farmyard friends. He is feeling sad because he didn’t receive any Valentines, but there is a surprise waiting for Blue back at home! 

What toddler doesn’t love trucks and farm animals? Our family always enjoys pulling this book out in February. Its rhyming text and sweet message always brings a smile. This short and sweet Valentine’s Day book is perfect for short attention spans!

In My Heart: A Book of Feelings by Jo Witek

In My Heart is a great book that is about a child who goes through different emotions and how each emotion makes her feel. There is a large range of emotions in this book, giving everyone a chance to relate. 

This is one of our favorite books for young toddlers as well as school aged children! It is a great way to introduce those big emotions kids feel and that everyone has these feelings! Five stars from us!

I’ll Love You Till the Cows Come Home by Kathryn Cristaldi and Kristyna Litten

This rhyming board book has adorable illustrations and text of animals doing funny, unrealistic things. It is all about how there are no limits or situations that would ever stop how much you love your little!

We love this book! It’s a great board book for toddlers with a funny rhyming text that keeps them engaged. It’s a great book to explain to your toddler that you will always love them no matter what!

Here Comes Valentines Cat by Deborah Underwood and Claudia Rueda 

This book is about a grumpy cat who doesn’t want to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Cat has a new dog neighbor and thinks he is mean even before meeting him. After receiving a Valentine from Dog, Cat realizes he should not have jumped to conclusions about his new neighbor! Cat writes dog a Valentine and they become friends!

Another great book is this cute little cat series. It is a longer book but with only a few words on each page. The illustrations are so adorable and the text is very clever! It has a great message about never judging people before you meet them! We are big fans of this grouchy little cat! 

The Love Letter by Anika Aldamuy Denise

This book is about woodland friends who each find the same love letter in the forest. They all read the letter and it makes them feel so loved and happy. The friends go on to spread their happiness by being kind and helpful to others! It is all about the power of kind words and friendship!

This book has a very sweet message that we love sharing with our kids. It is a long book, better suited to those who are aged 4-8 or with a longer attention span. The illustrations and message of spreading love and kindness is one even parents will enjoy. With adorable illustrations and woodland animals, what’s not to love?
